Working With Young People

Organisations and individuals who work with young people should have child protection measures in place and must comply with Government legislation covering the protection of children.

Each local authority has a Child Protection Unit that can offer guidance, advice and training around issues of child protection. Contact your local social services department for details.

A copy of this legislation and advice can be found here:
HMSO - Acts 1999. You will need Adobe Acrobat to read this document. To download Adobe Click here.

Recently the Criminal Records Bureau took over the whole issue of disclosing individuals criminal records should they wish to work with young people or other similarly vunerable groups. Click here for further information about Disclosure.

It is also good practice to ask the parents or guardians of young people to sign a 'release form' which gives permission for their image to be used in the films and in photographs to promote the films. Click here for further information on release forms.
